From Shy Nerd to Alpha Networker…

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

How I Went from Being a Shy Tormented High School Nerd to an Un-employable 28 year old ‘Alpha Networker’ & Entrepreneur…

A few months ago, I received an invitation in the mail to my 10 year high school class reunion. I couldn’t believe it had already been 10 years since I had left L.A. and flew 3,000 miles to Boston, to begin a new life…

It may sound dramatic when I say “begin a new life”, but that’s exactly what it was.

I did not like my time in high school.

It was quite miserable actually.

High School was very much like being a crab in a bucket, with other crabs… feeling like the one crab who would attempt to climb out of the bucket, only to be pulled back down by other crabs. I took all kinds of crap from many of my peers in high school, quietly absorbing it and rarely striking back.

I’m not sure what kept me moving forward, doing the best I could to let the negativity slide off me and continue to perform.

The only relief was the praise from my teachers and a few close friends. It was their guidance and encouragement which reassured me that I was on the right path.

To this day I’m still impressed with my ability to absorb the shots and criticism, yet stubbornly move forward. It would have been much easier for me to have assimilated into the norm and gained the comfort of social acceptance.

I also played varsity football, yet was totally miserable being a part of my high school team.

Involuntarily Training for a Marathon

Every day, I would show up to practice 1 hour late because I was also part of my school’s Academic Decathlon team. My academic team met during the last period of the day, which was also the period football practice began.

I made my academics my priority and therefore, whenever I showed up to football practice, my offensive line coach would tell me to start running to make me pay for missing part of practice, but all it really did was cause me to miss more practice.

I would run for the next hour of every practice. If I wasn’t wearing pads and a helmet, people would think that I was training for a marathon. I became quite the runner. :)

My teammates had given me the nickname “Calculus”, in an attempt to marginalize my priorities. I couple of times I did “snap” during practice and got into scuffles with some a-holes on the team.

That earned me another nickname… “Manson”.

I think I liked “Manson” better than “Calculus”, because it at least represented me standing up for myself and giving them a taste of their own medicine.

It would have been easy for me to just quit the team, but I could not give my coaches or teammates the satisfaction of driving me away.

I slept very little, because I carried a full load of AP classes, worked at Chuck E. Cheese, did Academic Decathlon and had football practice for 3-4 hours per day. I would get home late, exhausted then stay up until 2, 3 or 4 in the morning to finish my homework. I would get up at 6am to begin my day again.

If not for the football season ending and winter break, I definitely would have had a mental breakdown.

What also helped was that my 1st period Physics teacher, Mr. Lowe, understanding my situation would let me sleep through his class as he lectured. Other students complained as to why he allowed me to nap, while everyone else had to pay attention to his lectures.

He would reply, “Because Fernando is the only one with an A in the class. Now pay attention!”

This got me some rest, but didn’t make my relationship with my peers any easier.

When I graduated, I had been accepted to MIT and I could not wait to leave L.A. for Boston. It was an opportunity for a new life, where no one knew who I was. A new life did indeed begin…

“What Happened to the Shy Ferny?”

This past Saturday, I attended my 10 year reunion and hung out with people I hadn’t spoken to for over a decade. With a few exceptions, I did not keep in touch with people from high school so I was seeing everyone for the first time.

It was an amazing experience and interesting enough, none of the people that had tormented me in high school were there. I got along great with everyone and met a few folks I didn’t know before.

I really had a great time, which was a little surprising.

A conversation of note was with an old friend Alex, who I greeted. I use to work at Chuck E. Cheese with him, making pizzas.

Before the reunion, many of us had submitted bios of where we were at now, occupation, and a picture.

Alex had read the bio I submitted and said, “I read your bio and saw your picture. I recognized your face, but I could tell you weren’t the same person. What happened to the shy Ferny? You smile more, you’re confident, even your posture and the way you stand is different.”

I asked him, “How was my posture before?”

He replied, “You kinda hunched over, very shy and kept to yourself. Wow. You look good.”

I said ‘thank you’, and tried as best I could to explain what had happened over these past 10 years. It turned out he had recently started working with World Financial Group, a financial services network marketing company, and had discovered the blessings of personal development and understood the value of a positive association of friends.

So I connected with him on that level and explained that over these past 10 years, my association had changed, and therefore I had changed. I think he understood, based on his recent experience in this industry.

An Out of Body Experience

That Saturday was a surreal experience, because of how I felt as a socialized. Until then, I had no idea how much I had changed, until I mentally stepped outside myself for a little bit that night and I made myself aware of how I interacted with everyone there.

Kind of like an out of body experience…

Alex was right.

I was not the same person as before. I was more confident. As a result of this new me and my body language, I sensed that the level of respect people had for me was also different – in a good way. They were happy to see me, wanted to take pictures with me, were interested in my life and I was interested in theirs.

A couple of folks pulled me to the side and spoke candidly about how proud they were of me being that I was latino, and how much they had respected me during high school, despite the fact that some of their friends would put me down behind my back.

I also sat down and had a great conversation with an old friend, named Lorena. She didn’t know this, but I use to have a small crush on her in high school. :) Back then, I never did bring myself to tell her, but like any nerd with a crush, there were many times when I helped her with her homework and was the best friend I could be. She was always very grateful for my help, and she was one of those few friends who provided me with encouragement and support.

We caught up that night and I met her husband, Louis, who’s a great guy. They had flown in from Arkansas, where they settled down. They have been married for 7 years and are both doing great, with 3 beautiful children.

Lorena was also the only other full-time business owner in the room besides myself. Being a successful business woman, considering where she came from, having never finished college and raising a family was an extraordinary accomplishment and I was very proud of her and how far she had come.

We talked a little bit about business and we exchanged a few ideas. It was very cool to see people I grew up with doing so well for themselves and having become successful entrepreneurs.

The Alpha Networker

I guess the reason I’m sharing this is in part to reflect on how far I had come since leaving for college, and trying to piece together my transformation. And most definitely, a HUGE part of my transformation was as a result of these past few years growing as a business owner, dedicating myself to personal development and becoming the Alpha Networker, Mike Dillard defines so well in his Magnetic Sponsoring course.

It was clear that the Alpha Networker was the Ferny who was present that night for my high school reunion.

The only part of the old Ferny, which remained was my heart and the stubbornness, which never allowed me to quit anything I began. It was this stubbornness which got me through high school and my failures in Network Marketing.

This ability to weather the storms of life, eventually led me to discovering Mike Dillard and Magnetic Sponsoring, and led to my growth as a networker, a marketer, a teacher and entrepreneur.

The growth and skill as marketers Raymond and I have gained is laid out in our AMF course. It’s the equivalent to $50,000 in business experience, instruction and investment we put forth to gain the knowledge necessary to find success.

It’s available for you when you’re ready to take a giant leap forward in your business.

As for my personal growth and transformation… well, I’ve described this journey as best I can in many of the AMF newsletters I’ve written, including this one. I hope this one, as well as the others, will provide you with the courage and confidence to move forward in pursuit of your dreams as well, despite the pull down from the negative “crabs” in your life.

But I can only talk to you about my journey. You’ll still need to embark on your own.

Driving a Car Without Reverse

How to get a girl to look past your junk car, your lack of employment, your old age and even extra ‘baggage’…

“My compadre, He looks like royalty in that picture.”

- My Father’s Friend

The other day I was having lunch with my mom at a Mexican Restaurant and we got to talking about my father and how she had chosen to marry him.

The thing that my mom confessed about first meeting my dad, was that she was not attracted to him AT ALL.

My father wasn’t a bad looking guy, he was just… well… kinda old.

My father had some extra baggage around his waist (I inherited this gene), was 18 years older than my mom and the only source of income he had was performing as a Mariachi at bars around Southern California and Tijuna..

So it would seem like he really didn’t have much going for him… at least not on the surface.

Giving Without Want, Before You Can Have

You see one of the reasons why my father married so late in his life was because he had selflessly dedicated the first part of his life to helping raise his younger brothers and sisters, financially support everyone in his family and shield them from the abuse of his father, my grandfather.

He didn’t move forward with his life, until he was sure that everyone of his brothers and sisters were going to be ok.

My father had to grow up really fast and at really young age, but unlike many people with a dysfunctional youth, that experience actually made my father a great provider, a strong leader, and provided him with the ability to selflessly give to others without expecting anything in return.

This experience coupled with his deep philosophical understanding of his faith formed what my mother would later see — a magnificent human being. Even at times, when people he helped were not grateful or took him for granted, it didn’t matter.

My father had a saying, “If they don’t appreciate me, God will”.

But when my mother first met my dad, she could not see the great person that was before her.

Driving a Car Without “Reverse”

All she could think about at her young age were the superficial things like financial stability, youth, good looks and someone with a fancy car…

Did I mention that my dad, when they were dating, would drive my mom around in a car, which could not operate in reverse? He had to strategically park everywhere they went, so that he didn’t have to back up.

Eventually, the police had to impound the car and take it from my father because it gave off too much smoke and was a safety hazard. LOL!

mariachiBut my dad wasn’t naive either. He knew what was up. He just had a great attitude about everything.

He couldn’t do much about his age, finances or looks. But what he could do was treat my mom with respect, show the quality person he was, serenade my mom (remember he was a mariachi) and do what he could do with the resources he had.

Testimonials - My Father’s Secret Weapon

However, according to my mom it wasn’t really any of that stuff that won her heart, ultimately.

The one thing that my dad did, which really had a huge impact on how she felt for him was that they would always spend time around friends, and family (from both my mom and dad’s side) who knew my father personally.

And whether it was my mom’s aunt or my father’s friends, every chance they got, they would praise my father and talk about what a wonderful guy he was, and how he had helped them.

My mother could not escape it.

Person after person, friend after friend, family member after family member, had nothing but great things to say about my father, and told countless stories as to how he had helped and impacted their lives.

And what seemed like DeJavu, everyone of them would say, “Like Coco, there is no other. No one is as good as him.” (Coco was my father’s nickname.)

Misery Incarnate

One day, my mom was over at her aunt’s house and she noticed a picture of my father wearing a suit in a portrait. She stopped to look at it.

Also at the house was a friend of my father… in fact, my father was the only friend this guy had.

This guy was quite possibly one of the most negative people you’ll ever meet. He was an alcoholic, hated people, was alone, constantly got into fights….. let’s just say, he was misery incarnate.

Well, this guy walked up next to my mom and looked at the portrait alongside her and said, “My compadre. He looks like royalty in that picture… he is royalty.” Then he turned around and walked away.

My father was the only person in the world, this miserable person cared for and respected.

I sat on the opposite side of the table as my mom recounted these experiences and she said that she felt as if she had fallen in love with my father through everyone that had praised him over those first few months…

She never had a chance…

She started noticing that the superficial criterion that she had tried to measure my father up to, was just that… superficial.

The Power of Social Proof

Through the testimonials of all these people — young, old, male, female, drunk, sober, family, friends, musicians, acquaintences, bar tenders– she got to see the impact and influence that my father had over countless lives and how much he enriched them.

A year after having met my father, they married, had 4 kids (I was the 3rd) and lived an extraordinarily happy life. When my father passed away when I was 13, there was absolutely no doubt just how much she loved him and would miss him.

She’s remained widowed for over 15 years, choosing to never marry again. She can’t imagine finding anyone better, but she’s so grateful for the time she did have with him.

She came to understand better than anyone, why so many people had spoken so highly of him and not one soul spoke anything remotely negative… she’s yet to meet anyone who has.

It was awesome to hear my mom tell these stories about my father. Even though he passed when I was young, he made a lasting impact on my life and showed me how to be a person who operates with integrity and showed me how to be self-less, yet strong and firm.

And his influence on my life, has translated to many successes my life, including relationships, family and business as well.

“Who Have You Helped?”

Almost everyday, I will see an email in my inbox, or a forum post on the Better Networker Community, or a comment on one of my articles or Web 2.0 profiles, of people thanking us and give us unsolicited testimonials on how we have helped them.

Often with our clients, when we are instructing them on sales letters, one of the components we tell them to include are testimonials. The next question, which comes out of their mouth is usually, “well, where do I get them?”

My response is, “who have you helped?”

The fact of the matter is that if you don’t have people lining up, thanking you for what you’ve done for them or even just know of a couple of people whom would be willing to vouch for you, then you got some work to do…

We’ve gotten testimonials and praise from top industry leaders like Tim Erway, Mike Dillard, Daegan Smith, Joe LoBalsamo to name a few…

But it’s the random emails we get from people we don’t know and whom we will probably never meet, which mean the most and warm my heart.

And the results you produce for yourself, will be directly related to the results you produce for others.

And all this will be a direct result of the books you read, your education and the people you meet.

You know better than I do, how valuable the content you receive on this blog is. The teaching stands on its own, even if you never buy our AMF course… and that’s done purposefully.

Registering to read the Coffee House Letter, taking a look at the BIB product and test driving the Carbon Copy Pro system is one of the best things you can do because they will give you clear direction towards achieving the results you desire for your business and guide you step-by-step towards becoming a top-tier entrepreneur.

But our goal with any of the products mentioned above is to make sure that that you went away a better person than you came in even if you didn’t purchase anything.

The free email newsletters, products and the system stands on its own, as valuable teaching and tools.

I tell my mom that the influence she and my father had on my growing up, is what ultimately helped me become free… living with humility, learning to pass the credit, serving others and busting your ass!

That has been the key to our success. There is no magic trick to marketing.

Marketing is marketing. The same methods Mike Dillard and other mentors of ours taught us, they have taught countless others.

The difference between us and others, was on how we presented ourselves, how much value we provide to our readers and how hard we worked to make sure we served you better, than everyone on the internet who is screaming at you for your money.

Stay true to yourself, serve others and work hard… eventually, the impact that you’ve made in the lives of others, will lift you to getting the things you want most in this life.

Just ask my mom if this formula really works. ;)

DOMINATE the Better Networker Community

“Great stuff, man. You should be charging for content like that.”
- Mike Dillard

Around this time last year, I was sitting in my office watching MLM System Formula on my computer after having purchased it via the first limited release of the course.

The course was a recording from Mike’s first ever live seminar and came with a bonus Flip Video camera so I could send Mike a testimonial when I was done studying it.

Aside from it being a fantastic course for the leaders of leaders in this industry, he revealed something to the attendees (and to anyone that bought the course) on what was coming in the next for months for Magnetic Sponsoring.

Three months before Magnetic Sponsoring 3.0 had launched, I got a sneak preview into the new system and gained some insight into the mind of a master marketer. (Mike is a margarita drinking genius, btw.)

MLM Social Network?

Mike also shared plans about his intention to launch the biggest and baddest social network ever created for the Network Marketing industry. Immediately, I started thinking of the potential of a large social network, which exclusively caters to home business owners.

We had done quite a bit of marketing on MySpace and other social networks, but the frustrating thing about those places is that you had to sort through a lot of “coal” and deal with a bunch of spammers.

Bottom line is that the major social networks are not targeted audiences for what we have to offer — whether it’s an opportunity, training or products.

However, our marketing efforts on MySpace and other places forced us to really set ourselves apart in a sea of crap, spammy crap and crap thinly veiled as pseudo-crap.

So when Mike shared that he intended to turn Magnetic Sponsoring into a social community… I was sooooo game!

We’ve been through ‘Web 2.0 Hell’ on MySpace, and we were ready to kick ass again.

Magnetic Sponsoring Launches October 2007

When the Magnetic Sponsoring Community went live in Oct. ‘07, as other networkers wandered aimlessly through the site and started throwing crap up in the form of articles, videos and forum posts… I simply went into the community and started observing…

I didn’t interact for a few days and just kinda got a feel for how the site worked and what others were doing. I was studying the behavior of the majority, which was both interesting but a little concerning.

Fortunately, my concerns were alleviated when leaders such as Jim Yaghi, Shiraz Khan and David Schwind quickly emerged as the marketing authorities on the forums.

These were the guys I wanted to get to know…

Well, after studying what was going it was time for me to take action.

So What Did I Do First?

I started doing the exact opposite of what everyone else was doing… I simply started teaching. I shared a year’s worth of study, research, courses, the internet marketing work for Hwa Rang Do and $50,000 in investment Raymond and I had poured into our growth as business owners.

At first, I didn’t make any big waves.

I was just focused on adding value and NEVER once promoting my opportunity.

Even my signature pointed to our website, where people were able to get even more FREE training on internet marketing through AMF.

I don’t think Raymond and I were even selling our AMF course yet. We were just giving away what was practical to give away via articles on the MS site and via email newsletters to our list.

“SEO A-Bomb” Video

Then one day in the middle of November, I decided to conduct an experiment and see if I could attract some of the leaders that had established themselves on the community.

I turned on the Flip Video camera which I got when I bought MLM System Formula and recorded a video of me discussing the topic of SEO. Particularly, I discussed some pretty advanced and powerful concepts on something called Silo Structures and the Co-occurrence Matrix, ( a La Theme Zoom).

I posted the video on the community and started a thread on the forum titled, “Google Search Algorithm Cracked?

The first response I got on the forum was from none other than Mike Dillard:

That’s all the social proof I needed. The responses to that forum thread started coming from Tim Erway, Jim Yaghi, David Schwind, Shiraz Khan among many other members.

That video and the discussion on that forum was an instant hit, and quickly became the most viewed forum thread in the entire community and continues to be ’til this day.

What was even more interesting was that for the first few days, the only people commenting on that thread were the top leaders in the industry.

I think back now to the community’s reaction to that video and it really seemed like everyone who had been spamming their opportunity had been frozen in their tracks, not really understanding why with one video I was able to get the attention of so many great leaders.

My experiment had worked. I specifically posted that content to attract the top leaders in the community and it ended up getting the attention of the world’s top authority on internet network marketing.

Eventually, Raymond joined me on the MS Community and we became a real dynamic duo, producing valuable content for everyone to read for free. Helping thousands of entrepreneurs with their marketing and literally posting thousands of dollars worth of advice, on the forum at no charge.

Continued with Quality and Value

From that point on, Raymond and I continued to post quality content on the Magnetic Sponsoring Community, we developed a system for marketing on the site and we continued to make a name for ourselves.

Amazingly, a few days after I posted the SEO video I was on the phone speaking to Mike Dillard and Tim Erway as to how we could help them with SEO on the site as well as teaching to the MS Community on a more official basis.

Wow! To think that only a year before, I was listening to MLM Traffic Formula LIVE in my bedroom and learning from Mike, Tim and Tom just like everyone else who had purchased the course, wondering if this stuff would really work.

Our AMF brand flourished as a result of this exposure and we became the authorities on the topic of SEO in this industry, (we actually know a lot more than just SEO). ;)

Fast forward a few months later and on May 2008, Raymond and I led 100 networkers in the first (and only) MLM Traffic Formula LIVE Workshop in Austin, TX.

It was Mike’s MS brand, but he stepped aside and allowed us to lead the event, develop the content and run the show. It was a huge success and now we are living the life we had dreamed of since we got started in this industry 3 years ago.

A month before the live workshop, Ray and I walked out of our corporate jobs and retired from the Aerospace Industry and left behind a cushy $80,000 per year J-O-B in exchange for our freedom and time to make a real impact in this industry.

Now It’s Your Turn

Now I know I’ve gone on for a while sharing our story with you, but it’s for a reason.

We started from nothing and used the power of social networking to achieve all this. And we did it by providing value to the MS community and following what Mike taught us via his Magnetic Sponsoring courses.

Well, now Mike has decided to start all over again, build from scratch and recently launched BetterNetworker.com (replacing the Magnetic Sponsoring Community).

Powerful new features in this community now offers a ton of potential for even the newest person in this industry, an easy to use interface and a goldmine of opportunity to expose people to your business, when use correctly.

Ray and I wish to be your guide through this process and help you achieve the results you desire. Right now, there are only two things you need to do, neither of which will cost you any money:

1) If you haven’t done so already, click on BetterNetworker.com and create a profile, (if you already had a Magnetic Sponsoring profile, use your same username and password).

2) Then after you have a profile, join our ‘Better Networker Results‘ Mastermind Group for FREE.

Via this group on BetterNetworker.com, we’ll be providing you with the very best advice and strategies to make the most out of your efforts and participation in this new cutting edge community.

Along with learning from us, you’ll be encouraged to take action and share your results with only this small group of entrepreneurs so everyone can learn and use your successes to establish yourself as a leader in this industry.

Better Networker Inner Circle - By Invitation Only

After a few weeks, we’ll be selecting the highest performing members to become a part of a private group called the ‘Better Networker Inner Circle‘.

All content, advice and memberships will be kept strictly private.

This is where we will share the exact system we initially developed to make a name for ourselves in the Magnetic Sponsoring Community, and work together as a team to apply that marketing system to the new Better Networker Community to achieve the results you want for your business.

If you still dont’ believe that we are capable of producing some awesome results, check out this list when I searched for “magnetic sponsoring” on Google, today:

In SEO, there is something called an ‘indented listing’. Through our work on the community and posting of content, we managed to get my profile listed in the search engines right under the Magnetic Sponsoring listing.

Unfortunately, since the MS community is no more, we’ll have to start all over to produce similar results. But we’re not worried… we look forward to the challenge.

Join Us!

So in conclusion, go get your profile then join our little mastermind group, and get to work. is

We’ve posted some articles within the group area, so you can start learning proper way to use the BetterNetworker.com community to grow your business.

You can also get free training at BetterNetworkerProfits.com, which includes links to every article we’ve ever published, and info on other resources.

Enjoy the gifts!

Spying on Barack Obama with Twitter…

Twitter Strikes the Networking, Celebrity and Political World…

Here’s something cool, which will be a lot of fun when you implement in your marketing arsenal…
Recently, Raymond and I presented at the Hwa Rang Do Black Sash conference on the application of internet marketing tactics for martial arts studios.

One of the coolest parts of the presentation was when we showed these school owners, how to use the insanely popular social networking tool called ‘Twitter’.

If you are not familiar with ‘Twitter’, their business model is actually pretty simple and at first glance, can seem a bit silly…

Your profile on Twitter consist of nothing more than your website URL, a short description and a ‘ticker’ of updates telling people what you are doing on any given moment during the day.  And people can choose to ‘follow’ what you are doing and your updates will automatically appear on their Twitter home page for them to see.

You can either log onto the website and type in your update, or you can text message it from your cell phone for an instant update.  It seems a little twisted, because it’s like a type of ‘New Age Voyegerism’.  But it’s become insanely popular and is now widely used by celebrities, company CEO’s, politicians and even marketers.

Now how exactly can you use Twitter to promote your business? Here are a few strategies for various types of business and applications…

Marketers and Networkers on Twitter

Now, we’ve talked quite a bit in recent years about developing YOU, INC. when trying to brand yourself and grow a network marketing business.  Well, Twitter is a great way to allow your prospects to get to know you on a more personal level.

Ultimately, people want to know that you are a real person.

Here’s a list of well known networkers who have found a new home and marketing tool with Twitter.  Study what they do…

Ferny Ceballos - http://twitter.com/fernyceballos
Raymond Fong - http://twitter.com/RaymondFong
Mike Dillard - http://twitter.com/MikeDillard
Ben Settle - http://twitter.com/bensettle

“Join Me at the Bar…”

I do not recommend you use it as a pure promotional tool where you flash your affiliate link to products.  It’s ok to recommend something once in a while, but if you do that too much, you won’t have many people following you.

Although there is one marketer who recently did something very interesting with his Twitter updates…

He was sitting at a bar, in Florida killing sometime while waiting for an appointment.  Since he was just sitting around, he send a Twitter update saying, “I’ll be at XYZ bar in Orlando, FL. for the next couple of hours.  If anyone wants to come by and talk shop, come on by…”

Literally 20 minutes later, a couple of guys walk into the bar to greet this marketer and talk shop, exchange ideas and have a few drinks.

It’s genius, because from here on out, you bet more people will be subscribing to this marketer’s twitter updates just in case he ever sends out another message like that again.  It’s a great “piece of cheese” to use to bring more people into your Twitter followers list and connect with people.

Martial Arts Schools or Small Business Owners

Twitter also allows you to place a widget on to your MySpace, Facebook and Websites, which will display all updates you send to Twitter.

An idea for a small business, especially for martial arts studios, is to create a Twitter profile for your business and place this widget on your website.

Turn this widget into a window inside your business.  For martial arts schools, you can upload regular updates about current classes and exact techniques which are being taught at any given moment.

For a brick and mortar business, if you want to let your customers know about a new specialty item which is now available in your store, just update your Twitter ticker and it will show up on your website.

This type of marketing gives your prospect an entirely new user experience and they can learn about your products or services in a dynamic way.

Politicians and Celebrities

Twitter is a virtual goldmine for politicians and celebrities looking to establish a large following via the social networks.

Imagine being able to follow the day to day activities of Barack Obama, Ron Paul, John McCain or the Clintons…

In fact, politicians and celebrities can all but fire their publicist because they can use Twitter to notify the press and fans about any upcoming events and places they’ll be at.

It’s particularly powerful in today’s day and age, where people are still getting to know public figures like Barack Obama or getting to know a different side of polarizing politicians like Hillary Clinton or George Bush… it provides a whole new perspective into their humanity…

It’s a way to connect personally with voters, which is crucial because it’s been shown that the politician whom is most likable is much more likely to get the votes.

Anyway, I think you get the idea…

So if you haven’t done so already, go to Twitter.com and start a profile.  It takes 5 minutes.

Be sure to add Raymond and myself to your ‘follow’ list…

Ferny Ceballos - http://twitter.com/FernyCeballos
Raymond Fong - http://twitter.com/RaymondFong

And of course, Twitter is not a marketing system in and of itself… It should be viewed as another traffic tool for your funded proposal system.

If you wish to plug into the most powerful marketing system on the planet, then register here for more details… http://www.coffeehousemanifesto.com

Once that’s done, just use tools like Twitter to bring in the traffic and let the system do the rest…

To New Age “Voyagerism”,
Ferny Ceballos

Earthquake Rocks Los Angeles on the End of Days…

…the end of launch days, that is.

Well, by now you probably heard that Los Angeles experienced it’s
first major earthquake in quite a few years, and I was here in my
home office in East L.A. when it happened.

If you’ve never experienced an earthquake, I HIGHLY recommend
you try it.

It’s a real rush and a great excuse to get away from your computer
and go enjoy a margarita…

Why you ask?  Because you know that right after an earthquake
no one ever feels like getting back to work… so you don’t have to
feel guilty about not being productive. :)

But before I head out to my nearest watering hole, I wanted to
remind you for one last time about my friend, Mike Dillard’s release
of Black Belt Recruiting and his $50 discount on the course.

I’m not going to hype anything here. I’m just going to be blunt and
shake things up a bit.

Stay in or Stay out… Choose

The fact of the matter is that if you are on this list and don’t own a
copy of Magnetic Sponsoring or Black Belt Recruiting, then you
might as well unsubscribe… because nothing else is going to work
for you.

Raymond and I owe our financial freedom and being able to quit our
jobs to the training that Mike Dillard provided to us via his courses.
He didn’t take us under his wing or feed us any special secret about
success online… we simply bought his courses, studied them and
took action.

So just like L.A. shook today, I’m gonna shake things up here and I
don’t mind if you decide to end our business relationship here and now…

It’s time to clean house and anyone who is not willing to invest in
themselves via power house courses like Magnetic Sponsoring or
Black Belt Recruiting, I am NOT willing to help either.  It’s a waste of
our efforts as coaches and mentors to providing the value you receive,
when you are not willing invest in developing YOU.

Investing in YOU, Inc. is More Than Just Marketing

I’ve personally invested thousands of dollars in training and books on
just growing ME.  Nothing to do with marketing or business tactics.
Just on developing myself as a human being and becoming a better
person.

Black Belt provides not only the information you need to become a
better YOU, but also provides you with the REAL and PRACTICAL
techniques for becoming successful in your business, on the phone
and with prospects.

I don’t even care if you are in network marketing, or not.

As our buddy, Ben Settle (Magnetic Sponsoring’s Copywriter) told
me, “I would buy the course just for the sales techniques and personal
development, even though I’m not in network marketing.”

And our AMF exclusive offer of giving you $200 worth and 5 hours
in additional training on Google AdWords and Web 2.0 marketing tactics
still stands.  You can read all about it here:
http://www.blackbeltrecruitingbonus.com/letter.php

So that’s it.

I’m generally and nice guy, but every one and a while you have to
shake things up to let the bad stuff fall out and wake a few people
up, who otherwise will continue to walk through life asleep and unaware.

Time for my Velvet Margarita!

Peace,
Ferny Ceballos

on behalf of Raymond Fong and the Magnetic Sponsoring crew

MLM Pick-up Lines…

Classic Pick-up Line:
By the way, are you tied down to what you’re doing or are you keeping your options open?”

Sheesh! Gimme a break! LOL…

You are one of only a handful of people who will be receiving this, so be sure to listen closely…

Recently, as you may know, Raymond and I have been working very closely with Mike Dillard over the past 8 months on a number of projects.

In fact, we recently had the privilege of being lead instructors for the recent Traffic Formula LIVE workshop in Austin this past May.

It was a wonderful and enriching experience for both the attendees who got to party at Mike’s house and the entire Magnetic Sponsoring Team.

However, the fact of the matter is that success in this industry rarely comes down to you having the “one magic bullet”, which sky rockets you to success. It’s a combination of many things.

But if you forced us to pin point one thing which is most crucial to success in this industry… I would say MINDSET.

The thing that keeps people from achieving success both in networking and internet marketing is simply mindset.  And the proper mindset with the right marketing techniques, can produce the perfect storm for success.

**********************************************************
Pick-up the right mindset and marketing tools here:
http://www.blackbeltrecruitingbonus.com/letter.php
**********************************************************

Networking Pick-up Lines?

So how exactly do you achieve this “perfect storm”?

Well the turning point for us was definitely when I purchased Black Belt Recruiting exactly 1 and a half years ago, during a limited release Mike had.

The things that came out of Mark Wieser’s mouth as he was training us on how to speak to prospects, was absolutely shocking. And the things he said were not like some crazy networking “pick up lines”, which your upline is probably teaching you.

His results were a product of his mindset and how he viewed his prospects — he was interviewing them.  He didn’t need them.  They needed him. Period!

No “if’s”, “and’s” or “but’s” about it.

But this is also not to say that cutting edge marketing isn’t important for your success.  I mean one reason why you wouldn’t “need” your prospects to join you, is because your lead generation system pays you, regardless of whether a prospect joins you or not.

In other words, if you are already getting paid, why would you want to sponsor someone you don’t like or feel good about? Why would you even want to convince anyone to join?

Simple. You wouldn’t.

So as a special offer, only available until Tuesday at midnight, we wish to offer you additional training on internet marketing and how you can integrate the best techniques with what you’ll be learning in Black Belt Recruiting on the right way to prospect, recruit and speak to potential business partners.

All you have to do is go to:
http://www.blackbeltrecruitingbonus.com/letter.php

This will explain how you’ll be able to get 5 additional hours of training on the networkers way of using Google AdWords, MySpace, YouTube and Squidoo to use massive leverage to grow your business, even while you sleep.

So check it out, and remember this deal is only available for the next 24 hours, so go read all about it here:
http://www.blackbeltrecruitingbonus.com/letter.php

Thank You for your Leadership,
Ferny Ceballos

A Lesson from a REAL Black Belt Master…

A Valuable Lesson on Mindset vs. Skill from a REAL Black Belt Master…

Dillard

As you may already know, Raymond and I train in the martial arts an average of 3-4 times per week.

A HUGE aspect of our training has less to do with the physical, and a lot to do with the mental, because as your body wears down the only thing keeping you competitive is your mind.

Oddly enough, Mike Dillard is permanently launching Black Belt Recruiting and coincedentally, there’s a lot that succeeding in networking and the martial arts have in common.

I must confess first, that I am not (physically) the perfect picture of what a martial artist should look like.

I weight 270lbs, 6′3″ and watching me perform a jumping spin kick is not exactly what you would call “poetry in motion”.

There are many more talented and athletic practioners at my martial arts school.

However, when push comes to shove and I’m in a sparring or grappling match, I’ve managed to defeat individuals who are many ranks higher than me, in something where usually the faster and quicker individual has the advantage.

Being that I’m still a pretty low rank and have a long way before I reach 1st Dan, I sat back to think about why it is I seem to be progressing pretty quickly, considering my arsenal of techniques are still limited.

What’s the Difference Maker?

As Master Lee always tells us right before competition, “regardless of your experience and rank, when preparing for competition you are preparing for battle”.

“In battle there is no second place.  You must go in with the belief that you can and will win.”

I guess I’ve taken this to heart, because now I look forward to my matches with my more skilled and senior brothers at the dojang. And although I have my share of defeats, I’ve recently been having a good number of victories.

So what’s the correlation between my recent progress in the martial arts and network marketing…

Simple… confidence and belief that I will win.

Smacking Prospects Upside the Head

Not to long ago, I started talking to prospects and potential business partners with one hand extended out and a smile on my face, and with the other hand behind my back ready to swing it around and knock them upside the head if they say anything that would piss me off.

You see, I’ve grown very intolerant of whiny, skeptical and negative people.  Unless they are willing to shell out $400 per hour in consultation fees to have me hear them whine, they are lucky if I just simply walk away or refuse to answer their phone calls.

Now don’t take me wrong, I take calls anytime someone has a couple of questions and answer emails about our products or opportunity.  But when someone starts spewing excuses and tries to suck me into their negative world — I’m gone.

We have absolute confidence in our ability to grow a downline, make a substantial income and help others do the same.  And we go through great lengths to shield ourselves from anything that will sabotage that.

Everyday I wake up ready to go to battle with the negative forces, which will inevitably attempt to keep me from realizing my dreams.

I will win.

The same in martial arts. I got into every sparring and grappling match with the intention of winning — and if I lose, I will understand why I lost and learn from those mistakes.

Developing the Warrior’s Mindset

And right now the perfect opportunity for you to develop the mindset and skills is available to you in the re-release of Black Belt Recruiting.

Mike Dillard and Mark Wieser may not be martial artist, but they are certainly warriors and will teach you the exact mindset required to truly perform on a black belt level… as well as providing you the techniques and skills to support that mindset.

But make no mistake about it… ultimately it’s not about how much you know or how many techniques you have in your arsenal…

It’s about making the best with what you’ve got and rushing in with the belief that you will succeed.

And in a world where 97% of people are drowning in their own fears and self doubt, it’s the person with the greater self-image whom will rule.

However, Just in case you wish to have the security of a broad and powerful skill set, for only this month, Raymond and I are offering you 4 additional training bonuses, with your purchase of Black Belt Recruiting.

They include training in Google Adwords, Squidoo & Social Content Marketing, MySpace Marketing and Video Marketing from top networking leaders such as Jim Yaghi, Dennis Karganilla and others.

Train in the Martial Arts with Ferny Ceballos in Los Angeles!

I know, I know… It sounds insane, but hear me out.
.
As you probably know from many of our newsletters, along with doing marketing for the West Coast Hwa Rang Do Academy led by Chief Master Taejoon Lee, we also train in Hwa Rang Do 3-4 times per week.
.
Hwa Rang Do, over the past couple of years, has played a major role in our growth and journey towards financial freedom.
.
You see, Hwa Rang Do is not your run of the mill Mixed Martial Arts school… learning self-defense and martial arts techniques is only the beginning.
.
If I had to sum up the experience of training with Chief Master Lee it can be summed up in this quote:
.
“One who conquers others is strong;
One who conquers oneself is mighty.”
Lao-Tzu, 6th Century B.C.
.
Being able to beat someone up and win a martial arts tournament is easy.
.
Having your $#!+ together and keeping your life in order… that’s hard!
.
It’s this philosophy and way of life that has allowed Raymond and I to become financial independent, and overcome so many others of our personal demons.
.
As Master Lee would say, above all other forms of personal development, the martial arts is the only way to physically demonstrate your maturity and growth…  you can’t hide… it’s very easy to tell if you are growing or not.
.

.
If you give up on a workout because it’s too hard, what’s to stop you from giving up on other things in your life.
.
You must…
.
Learn to conquer your fear of:
  • failure
  • humiliation
  • getting hurt
  • responsibility
.
Learn to conquer yourself by:
  • doing more than you thought you could
  • performing physical feats you thought would be impossible
  • truly learn how the concept of “mind over matter” really works
  • defy your physical ailments and conditions

.

Ferny Doing Martial Arts - Poetry in Motion

.
I must admit, I’m not the physical specimen you would normally think of when you think “martial artist”.
.
I’m 270 pounds and my belt size is the biggest in the school.  When I came to the dojang to take my trial class 2 years ago, 20 minutes into the workout, I was out on my feet and almost passed out.
.
Today, I am a brown belt and I am proficient in submission fighting, kick/punch/throw sparring, and board breaking, among other things.
.
Things I never thought I would be able to do I can now perform easily - like spin kicks, axe kicks, side kicks, spinning heel hook, jump kicks and I’m currently learning the jumping spin kick.
.
A person my size normally should not be able to do these type of maneuvers, but it’s my commitment to achieve black belt and be a leader within the school, which allows me to overcome my physical limitations and continue rising through the ranks.
.
And it’s this gift, which we wish to extend to you.
.
This month on July 25th and 26th, Hwa Rang Do will be holding its annual Summer Seminars at the West Coast Hwa Rang Do Academy led by the founder of Hwa Rang Do, Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee and his eldest son, Chief Master Taejoon Lee.
.
It’s the only time of the year, where non-HRD people are invited to train in techniques, maneuvers and the healing arts only available to Hwa Rang Do 1st Dan Black Sashes and up.
.
Raymond and I are extending a personal invitation to everyone on our list to join us on these two days and train along side us in the Ancient Martial Art of Hwa Rang Do.  It’s an opportunity to peak inside our journey towards self-betterment and discover the true secret to our success.
.

.
In fact, when you walk into the school and speak to a few of Master Lee’s students, you’ll immediately realize that this is not your normal testosterone, meat head filled, chump infested MMA school.
.
The pedigree of the caliber of people we train with include attorneys, company CEO’s, doctors, university professors, ivy league graduates, musicians, movie stars….. and of course, network marketers. (Me and Ray). :)
.

Still a UFC Fanatic?

.
But there’s still something for everybody here…
.

.
If you like UFC or Mixed Martial Arts, you’ll love the takedowns, grappling, joint manipulation and sparring sessions.
.
If you long for the old days when disputes were settled with a duel, you’ll love our sword fighting and kumdo sessions.
.
If you’re into holistic health and alternative medicine, you’ll love the sessions with Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee as he dives into the ancient meditation and healing principles passed on to him by his master and Buddhist monk, Suahm Dosa.
.
If you want to take a trip on the wild side, discover our weapons and knife defense techniques.
.

.

So if this appeals to you and want to spend a weekend with Ray and I exploring some of the most private secrets to our success, go register here to join us in L.A., later this month:

.
The pre-registration deadline to get a 10% discount is today, so make some quick decisions and register to join us on July 25th and 26th.
.

.

You’ll also find a wide range of amazing videos of live Hwa Rang Do action and footage from past seminars here:

.
So again, this is a personal invitation for you to take part in something which is near and dear to our hearts.
.
We don’t make a single dime from this promo. We are inviting you because we truly feel that this will be an enriching and life transforming experience, and we’ll even talk some shop during breaks and lunch time.
.
Deadline is this Saturday to get a 10% discount on admission, so go now and register.
.
As for pricing…. let’s just say your plane ticket will probably cost more than attending.
.
See you on the mat!
.
To Conquering Yourself,
Ferny & Ray
.
P.S. If you want to see Raymond and I in action, go here:
.

Ray and I are the first two matches in the video.  Enjoy!

Bouncing Back from Marketing Mistakes

How To Turn Mistakes Into Profits …

“If we got you a life vest, will you get in the water?”
- Milo to Ferny at Lake Austin

Whew! What a week!?!

Ray and I got back on Tuesday, exhausted from an awesome weekend in Austin, TX. for the Traffic Formula LIVE workshop. It was so great to be in the same room with 100 of the most dedicated network marketers I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

MS TEAM: Mike Dillard, Justin Christianson, Ray Fong, Tim Erway, Ferny Ceballos, Craig Allen

It was even more gratifying hearing their positive responses, watching the the dozens of video testimonials they left us, sharing a few margaritas with them, taking pictures, signing autographs and having them walk out of that weekend with a completed lead generation system for their business.

When we said “hands-on”, we meant it!

But as great as the weekend was, not everything went according to plan (nothing every does!) and there were things that happened, which provided us with some very valuable “lessons learned”.

Ray, Ferny & Mike talking about Email Marketing

Oddly enough, one of the lessons we gave during the workshop was on “mistakes” and how to handle them when their occur in your email marketing.

So I’m going to give you that lesson and expand on it a little, based on our experiences during that weekend… which includes my Lake Travis WetBike incident…

Traffic Formula LIVE Exclusive - Lessons Learned

As you start growing your business, something is going to go wrong at some point and maybe make some silly mistakes. We are all human right?.

You’re going to:

  • Forget to insert a link into your email
  • Your formatting may get screwed up
  • You may forget to activate your autoresponder
  • You may accidentally mis-name the URL of a webpage which you gave out to thousands of people
  • etc, etc.

Murphy’s law says that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong, so there are endless possibilities for mistakes and while you should always do your best to prevent them, if they do happen you can turn them to your advantage.

But first, you must acknowledge the mistake, correct it and make up for it by creating a lesson out of it or having some fun.

In the martial arts, soft-styles like Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Aikido are based on a system of techniques designed to use the momentum and aggression of your opponents to your advantage — in other words, using the situation to help you meet your objectives, instead of forcing things.

The same with life. “Jiu-Jitsu” your way through life - go with the flow and turn negatives into positives.

Or as Bruce Lee would say, “Be like whaataah”.

It’s much easier and more effective than resisting everything that doesn’t turn out the way you want it to.

Ok, so here are a few situations and how to make them better, starting with something that happened recently…

Oops #1 - “Where’s My Bootcamp?”

You may be one of the folks on this list who opted into the Attraction Marketing 10-Day Bootcamp, but never received what was promised…

Well, as I was auditing our autoresponder service yesterday, I noticed that our autoresponder sequence had been turned off in our icontact.com back-office. As a result, no new AMF bootcampers received their 10-day bootcamp. (Mistake acknowledged.)

Both Ray and I were mortified and immediately corrected the issue. (Mistake corrected.)

Now, here’s some advice for you to make sure this doesn’t happen to you:

  • Subscribe to your own newsletters periodically to make sure your system is functioning the way it should.
  • If you notice a dip in sales or inquiries from your subscribers, make sure people are getting your emails.
  • If you are using iContact.com as your autoresponder, know that everytime you add a new email to your sequence, it’s going to pause your autoresponder and you’re going to need to re-enable it in the IContact.com back-office.

Moving on…

Oops #2 - China Outlawed Formatting

A few days ago, Ray had written up some awesome content and had sent it via email while he was traveling in China. Well, something weird happened in that when he hit the send button, it arrived in everyone’s inbox as a big glob of text, which was impossible to read.

Well, a couple of days later he wrote another piece on ‘beating up Chinese peddlers’, and I decided to have some fun with it.

So when I sent it the AMF list, I made up a story about the Chinese government having outlawed formatting, which is why the last message came out messed up and I had taken it upon myself to send the current one from AMERICA!

Along with the fact that it was about Ray punching a Chinese peddler, the message went over really well and even got a laughing response from Mike Dillard. (Yes, he does read our emails!)

Oops #3 - The WetBike Incident

Finally, you are really going to enjoy this one. It has nothing to do with marketing, but it is about me coming very close to being eaten up by the propeller of a large house boat.

After the event, the Magnetic Sponsoring team and a few friends went out on a day trip to Lake Travis and rented a house boat. We rode along the lake, then the house boat anchored and it was time for everyone to swim…. everyone except me that is.

You see, I’m not a very good swimmer at all and I haven’t been in a pool for about 4 years, so I probably wouldn’t do too well with my limited experience.

Well, after watching everyone else go down a water slide into Lake Travis I became a little envious and Mike’s friend, Milo, came up with the idea of putting a life jacket on me and having me jump in.

Seemed like a great idea and I agreed.

So we got the life jacket, I strapped it on and down I went on the water slide and into Lake Travis. It seemed to have worked great and I got to “swim” around and even took this cool picture of me and Ray in the water:

Well, you can say I got comfortable in the water pretty quickly and one of the other activities which was going on around us was the use of a Wet Bike by the Magnetic Sponsoring crew.

So when the opportunity presented itself, I hopped on the bike with someone else and off we went, racing around the lake at about 50 mph for about 20 minutes…. it was hella fun!

But then…. tragedy struck! Kinda…

We tipped over after hitting the wake of our own houseboat and into the water we went. The bike was upside down as well and we did manage to turn the bike over and the other person with me was able to get back on the Wet-Bike, but unfortunately I was not able to pull myself up.

Being stuck in the water quickly turned into a rescue operation, where I was being towed back to the boat by hanging on to the back of the WetBike.

As the boat and WetBike came closer together, I soon realized that I was in between the BIG house boat and the WetBike and my head was going to be crushed in between them.

As the boat and WetBike collided, I pushed myself under water, watched the two vessels bounce off each other, while I sucked in some tasty lake water. I came up after a few long seconds, coughed up some water and slowly pulled myself along the side of the boat.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Ray and Mike Dillard for pulling me out of the water and handing me a cold beer to calm my nerves.

Now what’s the moral of the story?

If you go swimming and riding on a JetBike out on a Lake, make sure you go with friends who have a vested financial interest in keeping you alive. :)

Mike even offered to buy me swimming lessons. (BTW Mike, when do they start?)

Anyway, going back to the whole ‘mistakes’ thing… know that whatever you do, it’s better to do something and learn from your mistakes, than to wait for everything to be perfect and never do it at all.

And for the record, I have no regrets about getting in the water. It was hella fun and I have some awesome friends looking out for me!

Oddly enough, in the Attraction Marketing Formula course, there’s an awesome chapter on how we turned our Martial Arts Master into a YouTube celebrity and got him over 500,000 video views in less than a year.

The exposure from the video marketing has transformed his business, but one of the most valuable parts of that chapter is what we would have done differently to have maximized our results — our lessons learned.

Learning from the mistakes of your mentors and leaders is some of the most valuable information you can gain and also spares you the grief, time and money of going through it yourself.

Then you can pass on that experience to others. The more you do and learn, the more wisdom you can offer others and the more people you will attract to your business.

To Falling Forward,

Ferny Ceballos
