How Automated Prospecting Works

A few months ago, I wrote and published an article called “The Frustration and Irony of Automated Prospecting Systems“, which really struck a chord with a bunch of networkers out there who were struggling with systems who promised “the system does all the work”.

That article came out of a conversation I had with a WMI consultant who was struggling in the business, and couldn’t seem to make the opportunity work for him.

This guy is a smart guy.  Graduated from Stanford, worked in sales for a few years, made tons of money and when he got started with WMI, he decided to quit his job and focus on the business full-time.

He seemed to know what he was talking about in terms of internet marketing, but the money just wasn’t coming in.

It was a little alarming at first talking to him, because up until that point, I had heard nothing but good things about WMI and Carbon Copy PRO.

I then started to talk to a few other people in other top tier opportunities (Liberty League, WMI, Global Resorts, etc.) who were having similar issues, despite the fact that they had revolutionary marketing systems working on their behalf and they knew quite a bit about marketing.

I was concerned, because up until that point, I was considering entering one of these top tier programs.

A couple of days after speaking to the Stanford guy, I got on a tele-class with my good friend, Joe LoBalsamo, who’s a master at phone prospecting.  Joe is one of those industry leaders that came out of nowhere, and became a really big name in internet network marketing pretty quickly.

The way he got his break was he got started with Daegan Smith’s Power Prospecting System, which is similar to Magnetic Sponsoring, except it’s system is personalized for his affiliates, but also has a monthly fee attached to it.

Personally, I tested the system for a few months and found that it didn’t covert all that well (or so I thought it didn’t), so I stopped using it and decided to develop my own system.

Well, Joe quickly became Daegan’s #1 affiliate and top leader on the Power Prospecting System.

Now the thing about Joe is that he didn’t know the first thing about developing websites and his internet marketing skills at the time were nothing to be particularly impressed by.

What Joe did really well, was he picked up the phone and spent at least 1 hour per day calling the leads he got through the system, and was a master at building relationships with people over the phone.

After learning from Joe, the light bulb went off in my head and I figured out why so many people were failing with systems, which seemed to have it all…

They people who were succeeding always used something in addition to the system to set themselves apart, while the people who were failing were relying on the system completely.

Mike Dillard with Carbon Copy PRO, used his fame as the founder of Magnetic Sponsoring, email marketing skills and the Coffee House Letter (which only his downline can use) to set himself apart.

Result? Second largest organization in WMI.

Joe LoBalsamo used his willingness to pick up the phone and his amazing people skills to set himself apart, from the thousands of affiliate using the Power Prospecting System and skyrocketed to #1, with very limited technical skills.

Jonathan Budd, who promotes Reverse Funnel, created his Online MLM Secrets system to personally brand himself first, then used the Reversel Funnel system to introduce his prospects to the opportunity.

Result? He’s made up to $80,000 per month with Reverse Funnel (Globa Resorts).

Andrew Caas (another of Mike’s downline), established himself as a marketing leader by becoming a Dan Kennedy Marketing Consultant, which puts him in a great position to introduce people to WMI via Carbon Copy PRO.

All the top leaders, are doing something in addition to using the “automated” system they were given.  They don’t rely on the system, because that’s what 95% of the people using it do.

And when you think about it, it makes sense!

In a sea of people who are promoting the same exact “magic system”, how is a new person suppose to know who the real leader is?

You have to set yourself apart.

This is why using the Coffee House Letter alongside the Carbon Copy PRO system works! Only Mike Dillard’s downline can use it, and when you add in some personal branding as I teach my downline… it’s the formula for success.

I gotta warn you though, it does take work.  Making a name for yourself will require effort, but it pays dividends in the long run.
